God's Measure
This Painting is inspired by the amazing poem written by Ella Wheeler Wilcox ( Born November 05, 1850 Died October 30, 1919) entitled "God's Measure". She is my favorite poet of all time. Please check out her poetry it is the greatest. This Painting is a tribute to her beautiful poem.
God's Measure
God measures souls by their capacity
For entertaining his best Angel, Love.
Who loveth most is nearest kin to God,
Who is all Love, or Nothing.
She who sits
And looks out on the palpitating world,
And feels Her heart swell in herself large enough
To hold all men within it, she is near
Her great Creator's standard, though she dwells
Outside the pale of churches, and knows not
A feast-day from a fast-day, or a line
Of Scripture even. What God wants of us
Is that outreaching bigness that ignores
All littleness of aims, or loves, or creeds,
And clasps all Earth and Heaven in its embrace.
For entertaining his best Angel, Love.
Who loveth most is nearest kin to God,
Who is all Love, or Nothing.
She who sits
And looks out on the palpitating world,
And feels Her heart swell in herself large enough
To hold all men within it, she is near
Her great Creator's standard, though she dwells
Outside the pale of churches, and knows not
A feast-day from a fast-day, or a line
Of Scripture even. What God wants of us
Is that outreaching bigness that ignores
All littleness of aims, or loves, or creeds,
And clasps all Earth and Heaven in its embrace.
