Mysterious Midnight

The night can be frightening and sublime and yet also mysterious and magical. This painting is meant to capture those special times when we experience the latter. I had a magical experience looking out to sea one night. I have tried to recreate the feeling of that moment in this painting. I have pushed and pulled the hues, shapes, form, and lighting until it could convey what I felt in my heart as I looked out into the mystery of the night. I hope this work of imagination can help you feel the truth of the feelings we experience, when on those special occasions, the night is filled with wonder and magic.
